Not everyone gets to walk on a glacier, let alone take some of their first steps on one šŸ‘£ This girl is definitely doing her part to keep up with the gang! ā€¢ We finally got to check out Jasper but it rained 50% of the time! Today we had perfect skies which we really needed. The kids were starting to look homeless covered in dirt, stringy hair, wet knees and butts...
He was so confident he was going to pedal, he kept saying ā€œNo Thanksā€ and refusing help before he even started! 1yr ago, he started hitting the pump track with his balance bike in Whistler - now heā€™s braking and pedaling. Thereā€™s no looking back! ā€¢ This moment was so incredibly special and gives me chills every time I watch it! Weā€™ve had such a fun biking journey and Iā€™ve learnt a lot about coaching and encouraging. I canā€™t describe the heart bursting sensation hearing him hoot and holler then celebrate with high fives after! I know the feeling thatā€™s rushing through your blood right now buddy - stay addicted for life! šŸ¤© @tldcanada @spawncycles @thebikedads
Remember when you could throw some clothes in a bag and pull off a road trip no problem? When 2-5hrs pumping tunes in the car didnā€™t seem like a super long drive? I can barely remember those days either after traveling with 2 kids šŸ˜… On the other hand, everyone has those stops and view points they always mean to check out but never do...Well this weekend we hit up one of ours - The Skunk Cabbage Boardwalk outside of Revy! This wetland felt tropic with some of the coolest birds and plants Iā€™ve seen in the Rockies! Plus the valley views canā€™t be beat ā›°Might as well start enjoying these long journeys with countless mini hikes!
Not every day is sunshine and rainbows. Yesterday our 4hr drive became 8hrs after 1 projectile vomit in the car, 3 roadside poops , 1 mud slide road closure, 1 emergency stop for lunch at a winery, 1 floor poop that Nate found after slipping in it (I left Queen V diaper-less for 5min!).... And after all that work, we realized I booked the wrong AirBnB dates!!! Wowza! Not sure how but we kept on smiling!!! After a couple loads of laundry, today is a new day that started with fresh duck eggs and backyard honey. Itā€™s gotta be a good one right!!!
It was finally cool enough to go for a hike (Not 35C like it has been!) We did this same hike last year but both kids were too small to enjoy the train wreck scenery. This year it blew Maximoā€™s mind as he wandered around the cars and even climbed on top of one! Queen V stayed awake for the jaunt. Next year sheā€™ll be bombing around with her bro - especially since she took her first steps yesterday! Whoop!
Iā€™m a believer! Surround yourself with amazing people and a positive environment that fosters athleticism, imagination, and creativity and it will fuel your soul! The kids thrive in the mountains - every day weā€™re on the bikes, checking out parks and enjoying the water. Soon this will all come to an end but Iā€™m determined to keep the good vibes flowing ā€¢ Sometimes we trick ourselves into thinking we need something else to ā€œhave it allā€. What Iā€™m learning from vacay mode and mountain life is the value of turning off, making a lot from a little, more intimate family moments, prioritizing experiences, slowing down to hold hands, creating moments to enjoy a warm or intentionally cold coffee, and starting the day with a smile. These are the habits I want to incorporate to vacay everyday.
