Fenland Trail

Elevation gain: None
Distance: 2km (Loop)
Perfect for: Toddlers/Preschoolers, Double Chariots, Family Walks

This quick and easy (but gorgeous) walk is right next to the Banff townsite. Simply follow Mount Norquay Road out of town, cross the railroad tracks, and the trailhead is on your left. We parked at the end of Main Street and walked along the paved river path to get to the trail – it added about 15minutes to the hike but you get lots of scenic views.
We explored this trail in late November with another family and it was in great shape for a winter stroll. There wasn’t a need for ice cleats however some of the bridges were a little slick. The trail is also well covered so even on a windy day we found it sheltered enough for a pleasant walk with the kids.

There’s plenty to see with the trail crossing and running alongside a couple of different creeks. The path is well groomed and can accommodate a double Chariot. It’s also great for toddlers who like to walk since there are benches and plenty of safe areas to explore along the way. When you hit the midway point you get a view of the highway but soon enough you’ll be pointed in the opposite direction and hardly notice it.
